Bill Commerford photoBill has over 20-years’ experience, as a therapist and Shiatsu practitioner working in alcohol / substance dependency, sexual and mental health and community projects as well as on-site, in companies. He continues to develop his private Shiatsu-Shintai practice.

Developing an interest in the healing arts, philosophies and way of life of different cultures and societies from extensive travel throughout Europe, Africa and Asia, Bill studied Arabic at Alexandria University, and then taught English, working in Egypt and Palestinian villages in Israel.

Besides teaching shiatsu, anatomy and physiology at BSS-Do; Bill teaches at Ki Kai Shiatsu School at Morley College and is a tutor on Bill Palmer’s post-graduate Movement Shiatsu courses with the School for Experiential Education (SEED).

Bill’s interest in process bodywork incorporates aspects of Developmental Movement; Proprioceptive Awareness; Experiential Learning and Teaching; Movement Shiatsu; the Six Combined Channels; Spontaneous Movement, Voice Work and experiencing meridians through yoga and Inner Qigong.

In addition, Bill is a BACP accredited Integrative Counsellor / Psychotherapist and teaches Inner Qigong, which he adapts to clients’ needs in order for them to become more aware and / or actively involved in their own health and well-being.
