The Shiatsu & Bodywork Practise Space
Tuesday Evenings @ London School of Capoeira
7.15 – 9.15 pm
1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month
Led by one of our experienced Teacher practitioners
This is an open Shiatsu class which will run on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at The London School of Capoeira.
In September there will be only one class on the 19 September, and in October only one class on the 17 October.
From November, on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, there will be a wonderful gathering of Shiatsu students, practitioners and bodyworkers from all disciplines, as well as those completely new to bodywork, meeting to learn, exchange, practise and develop their Shiatsu touch and energetic connection.
On the first Tuesday of the month, the class will present as an open forum: to use Shiatsu principles to exchange and incorporate all styles of shiatsu in the development of our touch and treatment process. Teachers will bring their experience of using traditional shiatsu, Seiki, Movement Shiatsu, Developmental Shiatsu, Healing Shiatsu. They will welcome input and exchange of ideas and skills to work effectively with body and mind to promote our natural self healing abilities.
On the third Tuesday of the month, the class will be based within the syllabus of the British School of Shiatsu-Do. You will have a chance to taste and practise Shiatsu Shin Tai. This is a shiatsu form that uses the flow and connection through Governing and Conception vessels and Central Channel as the focus for treatment priority. A range of techniques are used to improved movement and create space in the body, by working directly on the spine, shoulder and hip girdle and in the Hara (abdominal region) and with Fascia (connective tissue). We will also work with the Masunaga extended meridian system and how to move the body to create more flowing and integrated treatments.
These classes are open to all who are interested in Shiatsu and bodywork, connecting and exchanging with each other, and to those looking for a relaxed space to give and receive shiatsu on a Tuesday evening.
For those with no experience, the class acts as taster and a chance to receive some Shiatsu, and learn to give treatment. If you come regularly you will learn in bite size pieces a form of bodywork that is relaxing and therapeutic.
The class begins with some Do-In exercises which are movement and breath based exercises that help open and ground the body/mind. The teacher will guide the class according to the aims and wishes of the group. There will be time to give and receive treatment. There is enough time to immerse yourself in the shiatsu, leaving you feeling clearer, looser and more present.
The fee is £20. Please book your place in advance by sending an email: firstname.lastname@example.org
